Hey sorry it's taken me so long to reply! Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated! I've spent the last three days reading and trying to understand! I pretty much get the basic idea. I'm going to make it 5 x 4 squares, should be big enough but I've yet to do the measuring and all that jazz. My mum is going to probably do the sewing for me, she said she was happy to help which is cool. I had a good time choosing what I wanted to put on transfers so I will probably do that tonight. I'm really excited about this!

Oh, definitely, functional is always a plus! *giggle* Basically I just looked at a few websites where people were making them to sell to get ideas on the sizes. Mostly I used cozytee.com - on their ordering page, they have a list of how many shirts will make what size blanket.
Basically we just made 14" t-shirt squares (based on the size of the designs on the shirt) and a bunch of 14" by 3" strips, then sewed them into rows of three, then we made 3" wide strips long enough to go along the bottom of those rows, and sewed those on (half inch seam on everything), then sewed all the rows together, and finished them off with about 5" strips all the way around the edges. The prep and all the measuring/cutting/pinning takes awhile, but after that, it's fun to start putting everything together! The easiest way would probably be to find an old blanket that you can bear to part with (instead of using batting), then measure it and figure out how big to make everything so that you can make your quilt into a 'sack' when you sew on a backing fabric, so that you can stuff the blanket inside and sew up the last edge. I don't know if this is making any sense at all.

There's a pretty good tutorial here [link] based on 12" squares, but it could be altered if need be. Also, they sewed in columns instead of rows; I'm not sure which would be easier. Good luck!!

According to the websites I checked out; 9 shirts will make a nice throw sized blanket/quilt. Then you can go up from there! There were some made from around 36 shirts.

Okay I'll hit you up for pointers if I get stuck! And that's really good advice, I'll make sure to do that. I can't wait it's gonna be so cool! I need to figure out how big I can possibly make it. I might even start today...

Nice! *giggle* Transfers sound cool. If you need any help, just let me know... there are probably a million tutorials online, too! One thing you want to be sure to do is to back each shirt square with a sturdy fabric, so they won't stretch so much over time.

Ah that's cool. Lucky you!! He must be a cool guy. I have successfully searched through my t-shirts, and I've found 11 that I could cut up and use! Sweet, I had no idea there would be so many... I'm gonna put something like transfers on the back of them and use that too so I can have an extraly massive quilt!! I like to do things on a big scale. My mum was like, "oh no..." when I told her my plans of epic!

I'm fortunate enough to be friends with a guy who has a HUGE Gn'R collection; one year for Christmas he sent me a massive package of Gn'R stuff, including 3 shirts! That's where my collection really started growing.

Oh I see, long pillow, makes sense. Yeah well the Slash t-shirt is just ridiculously small since I ordered it without really knowing the sizes and then didn't get around to getting it exchanged. It seems a bit of a waste to leave it sitting in the closet! I'd have to shrink to the size I was when I was about 8 to fit it. I could lose weight, but not height! Plus it's so tight it just distorts the picture and looks a bit silly, and I don't think there's much I can do about that! You have seven or eight GNR t-shirts? Wow, you beat me hands down! I only have a few, and I'd only cut up that Slash one. A GNR quilt would be too cool. I think I'd be like one of those little kids and carry my blankey with me everywhere! Like, "Is that a blankey you're carrying there?" "Yeah, but look how ROCKING it is!!!!"!!

A body pillow is one of those long pillows.... I have one that's a little short, but it will fit two t-shirt squares nicely, with borders and all. It's like a pillow that fits across a twin size bed instead of using two pillows. Ooh, Slash shirt! I couldn't bear to cut up any of my Gn'R shirts.... I love them too much.... hehe.... maybe I'll make a Gn'R quilt with all of them one day when I don't fit them anymore...... I know I have at least seven or eight... hmmmm.
